As a unique imperial collegiate city with a history spanning more than 1,200 years, Herford was once an important religious and cultural center. With its many churches worth visiting and its fascinating history, this Hanseatic city remains a destination well worth exploring to this day.

“The Middle Ages meet the modern age”—that’s one of the slogans. Of course, this also refers to the modern museum of contemporary art: MARTa.

This architecturally striking museum is now known throughout Germany, not only because of its designer, the American star architect Frank O. Gehry, but also for its changing, high-caliber, and at times extravagant exhibitions.

The museum is just under a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

You can also walk to the City Theater, the Northwest German Philharmonic or the Capitol Movie Theater.

For a special kind of relaxation, there is a fascinating sauna area in the H2O, the 3500sqm large fun and leisure pool, which is only 1,5 km away from our house.

Of course, Herford always has interesting events to offer, such as the Hoeker Festival in the summer or the Herford Christmas Lights in the winter.

The entire region East Westphalia-Lippe offers a wide variety of outing options. Why not go for a hike through the Teutoburg Forest with the Hermann Heights and pay a visit to the Hermann Monument or the Externsteine pay a visit.

Or explore the surrounding area by bike. The Werre Cycle Route leads close to our house. Bicycles can be rented on request at our hotel (bike rental: 10,00 Euro).
